Aims

In this assignment, you will need to develop a dynamic website “My Music Gear”.

The web site is offering to rent music gear and instruments (guitar, drums, amplifier, …). It has two types of users: Administrator and Regular user (client). Both types of users should have options to register or login into the system.

The Administrator can: Insert product (gear or instrument) into the system; View the product; Search for a product; and Change the status of the product. The Administrator should also be able to list all rented products, all overdue products, and all available products.

The Client can: List all available products in the system; List the products that he/she has rented and is currently renting; Search for a product; Rent a product, and Return rented product. When renting a product, the user should get a notification with the date when the product should be returned and the cost of regular and late returning. When returning the product, the user should get a notification (if the product is returned on time or overdue) with the total cost (the payment is not part of this assignment).

For every user (Administrator or Client) there should be information about: ID, Name, Surname, Phone, e-mail, and Type (administrator or client).

For every product there should be information about: UniqueID, Category (guitar, drum set, keyboard, amplifier, …), Brand, Year of manufacture, Characteristics, Status (available/not available), Cost per day, Cost per day for overdue renting.

The client needs to note the duration of the rent (it will be calculated as regular cost per day), after that, a cost for overdue renting applies.

When searching the product (for both types of users) there should be options to search by combination of Category, Brand, Characteristics, and Status. The user can enter only part of the searching string.

1. Design Requirements

The website should have interfaces for:

- Registering/Login the users;

- Insert product;

- Search products (by a combination of Category, Brand, Characteristics, and Status);

- List all products;

- List all rented/overdue/available products;

- Rent product (with an indication for the length of rent, and a notice of the date when the rental ends and overall costs);

- Return product (with notice for the regular cost, plus cost for overdue rent).

2. Functionalities

- All users should be able to register into the system;

- All users should be able to login into the system;

- All users should be able to logout;

- The Administrator should be able to insert products into the system;

- The Administrator should be able to list: all, available, overdue, or rented products;

- The Administrator should be able to change the status of the products;

- The Client should be able to list: all available products, all products that he/she has rented or is currently renting;

- The Client should be able to rent a product with an indication for the duration of the rent;

- The Client should be able to return a product.

3. Other Expectations

- The students should create classes and database with tables based on the requirements of the assignment;

- The website should have good interfaces and navigation thru the given options.
