Generate a list of alternative courses of action

1)Explain that it I cannot accept such an expensive present from her and explain that This is because I am paid by the health service, and this is payment enough.

Recognise that Mere has been very thoughtful and spent a great deal of time and effort purchasing this jewellery, ie I recognise that Mere is appreciative of the service, but is customary in this service to show thanks by buying a card

2) Accept the gift graciously

3) Say no I cannot accept the gift because it is staff policy not to accept gifts. My manager would be very upset with me

4) Say I that do my job because I get pleasure and satisfaction from working with clients and that is my reward, and I don't need gifts from patients to know that I am doing a good job

5) Accept the gift but then send the gift back to her with a thank you note

Explain can't accept gift because I would be getting in trouble with my manager. I have really enjoyed working with her. I recognise the effort that she has gone to thinking about me and what I would like. If you want to give me card that would be lovely.)
