Topology 3 corresponds to the conventional voltage regulators that are utilized in the grid. It consists of an autotransformer with taps on the series winding at the secondary side. A selector switch connects either the top or the bottom of the series winding LV side to the primary HV side so as to provide negative or positive compensation respectively.
