Description

In this assessment, you will analyse a case study of a fictional organisation and write a report which provides recommendations, using OB theory, on how to positively change the culture of the organisation in the case study. Your report will also outline a plan to implement recommendations, identify barriers and enablers to implementation and consider policy or procedural changes that would support sustainability.

Assessment details

Step 1: Read the case study by accessing this document. Assume you are appointed as the new CEO of the Pacific College of Sports Science (PCSS) and have the power to change what needs to be changed in this company.

Step 2: Identify and note the key issues you see with PCSS, from reading about the history of the company and its current position after the SGIAR take over.

Step 3: Refer to the content encountered in this course to determine which theories and concepts would have a positive impact in addressing the issues you identified in the case study.

Step 4: Create a word draft report of the issues you identified in the case study and possible solutions. In your draft, categorise the issues you identified in Step 2 into what overall theory would encompass the challenge of the problems. Pick three of these categories you created and draft the possible solutions.

The focus for your solutions should be on the acceptance, implementation, and sustainability of your recommendations. There is no point implementing changes without budget that would affect productivity, destroy culture or are unsustainable.

Step 5: Review the feedback given to you on your draft and write your report. For each category and solution you write about in your report, ensure to:

• Identify the steps needed to implement your recommendations.
• Identify anything you think might hinder the implementation of your recommendations and how this could be managed. This will involve you understanding your leadership and change theory and summarise your view of what is required to ensure compliance with the recommendations and sustainability of the changes.
• Include external sources to support your recommendations and reference these appropriately.

Step 6: Review your research and referencing requirements. You are expected to find appropriate sources of information to support or inform your ideas. You are required to provide at least 10 academic, authoritative or industry sources:

• credible peer-reviewed sources such as business journals (identified in the reading list) literature reviews and textbooks
• official government and non-government websites, data and reports
• using the library references for such business publications as Harvard Business Review or Forbes improves your argument and results in better marks (marks will be penalised for Investopedia, Wikipedia, or any references outside the business discipline, e.g. do not include references for engineering journals) .
