This assignment will help you connect the theoretical concepts learned in the book and lecture and apply them to current events in a real or fictional organization.
 

You are to act as if you are the owner of the real or fictional organization. Describe what the organization does and to which industry the organization belongs. The first portion of this assignment involves finding a recent (within the last 2 weeks) news article that deals with a potential change in the general and specific environments of the organization (think environmental scanning for your organization). This will work out best if it is related to an industry in which you desire to work to make it more applicable. The organization should abide by all laws in which it based (I’m not interested in drug running or prostitution
organizations in Wyoming and how the cold weather affects either...).

Make sure the news story is not just COVID 19 in general, because we are certainly aware that it has had a tectonic shift in the way businesses operate. If it is COVID-19 related, it must be very specific. I do not need the full article attached in your paper, just a link if it’s online, or a description of where you found the article if by some other means. Make sure the news source is reputable and not fake news (easier said than done some times, but make sure it’s not just a tweet or social media post). Give a brief synopsis of the news event after describing your organization.

After doing the above, answer the following:

 What aspects of the general environment (LISTEN) will this affect, and how do you think it will affect them? Many news events can affect all six aspects, and if you feel it does not affect one or more, describe how it could affect that (or those) aspect(s) in the future.

What aspects of the specific environment (CCSRG) will this event affect and how do you think it will affect them? This will be more industry specific, but with a bit of creativity, you should be able to think of how the event will affect
all five aspects.

How will you as the manager/owner of the organization respond to the event or events? Will there be any change in the internal environment? Explain your answer.

How ethically intense (as defined in the text) is your response to the event? (Outline and discuss based on the six factors in the text.)

Where do you believe you fall on the spectrum of Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development and does that affect how you make your decision to respond to the event?
