Unit Aims
The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ understanding of different perspectives of quality in relation to health and social care service provision. The unit also addresses how this is evaluated in order to improve services and empower and involve service users.
Task 1: Briefing Report
Instructions: Write a briefing report about quality systems in a health and social care environment. In your briefing report you should:
- Evaluate the impact of poor quality and standards on health and social care provision.
- Analyse barriers to the delivery of quality in health and social care services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of quality systems, policies and procedures used in a health and social care setting.
- Suggest ways in which health and social care services could improve quality of service provision.
Task 2: Presentation

Task 1: Risk Assessment
Instructions: You are required to show that you have a clear understanding about the role of risk assessment in health and social care service provision. With reference to the principles of risk assessment, undertake a risk assessment relating to one aspect of health and safety policy in a health and social care practice. Task 2: Essay
