Industry Project Brief Statement

Please provide a succinct statement to describe your project. This should summarise the challenge or opportunity that you would like the student team to address. 

A large part of paramedic practice is legal medical documentation for all cases and patients attended. Currently the paramedic students at our university are not provided with a platform to learn current methods in documentation. Experience is largely obtained on clinical placements. Students regularly complete simulated cases but have no opportunity to document these. We need an app which can be used both on computers and portable devices which allows students to practice documentation. This would allow for a higher fidelity simulation incorporating the legal documentation required. Students should be able to log in to the application using their student account, with the application saving each case for future retrieval, and the ability to export the case as a PDF or print the file directly from the application. The application would incorporate data capture, including demographic details such as name and age, medical history, clinical assessments and findings, management and interventions, and room to write a case narrative.

• Discuss project with student team to establish importance, expectations and management - Investigate currently available resources and identify applicability or limitations to the project
• Develop and prioritise a list of possible inclusions, requirements and features
• Draft a project plan
• Develop the app and refine according to feedback
• Develop the working product and test to confirm suitability for release
• Develop support resources, such as manuals - Finalise project and propose future directions
