POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Learn and follow the processes in accordance with AS/NZS4187:2014, organisational and departmental policy, procedure and guidelines for safe patient and staff outcomes.
• Ensure completion of training and education schedule to allow final and ongoing competency assessment.
• Gain and improve own professional development by attending equipment/instrument inservice, keeping up-to-date with related standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Follow procedure and guidelines to ensure that associated processing equipment is functioning correctly,document test results; report malfunctions, breakdowns and failures.
• Participate with all aspects of reprocessing to ensure a timely return of processed medical devices within specified timeframes.
• Contribute to improve Quality, Infection Prevention & Control and Work Health & Safety in the workplace.Ensure the following of safe work practices and good manual handling techniques for the safety of self and others at all times, report unsafe situations.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work environment as defined in PD2012_061. Conduct cleaning schedule for associated equipment and fixtures, complete documentation, report issues or concerns.
• Utilise consumable resources in efficient manner. Report low supply levels for re-ordering purposes to ensure continued service provision.
• Model and actively promote workplace behaviour that reflects the SWSLHD CORE Values and NSW Health Code of Conduct.

Assist the provision of a high standard of competency and customer service for the collection,cleaning/disinfection, packaging, sterilisation and distribution of reusable medical devices in a timely and professional manner under routine supervision.
