Personal development plan: Students will be asked to develop a personal development action plan based upon a reflection on a clinical/practice event in the previous year. The reflection on a practice event will enable the student to focus on a professional development need (PDN) to take forward into their transitional year as a registered nurse. Areas of professional development are based on module learning outcomes and indicative module content. 
 
Reflective essay: Critically reflect on their transition to registered mental health nurse and consider the support and/or development they may require to meet their identified professional development need (PDN). Critically analyse and examine how your professional development need relates to (and /or will be impacted by) the 5 module learning outcomes. Ensure that you consider the indicative module content that applies when critically analysing and examining your professional development need (PDN).

• Analyse critically the theories of leadership, management and group dynamics applied to learning disability nursing 
• Reflect critically on student’s own delegation skills and evaluate their effectiveness in giving and receiving feedback
• Examine critically and apply organisational, professional or national policies to the management of their own scope of practice
• Reflect critically and evaluate their own performance in their transition to professional practice.
• Analyse and synthesise the ongoing support and development needed by the student entering the register to manage a team delivering safe and effective care whilst maintaining their own emotional resilience.
