You are required to develop a center-based philosophy statement. Give consideration to the impact of learning outcomes for children in relation to the complexity of their social and cultural world, families and learning environments. Include a range of stakeholder perspectives and ways communication strategies foster interaction and collaboration for a broad range of learning communities within an early education and care center (e.g. leadership, teaching staff, children, parents, community members, legislative authority, and transdisciplinary professionals). It is important to keep in mind that this is not the teachers' or the staff's philosophy but the center's philosophy. This means that all parties need to have a 'voice' in the document. The statement must be reflective of the nature and importance of professional advocacy, leadership roles, responsibilities and practices early childhood teachers play in the development and maintenance of a well- managed learning environment in which educators work in collaboration with others. The supporting statement of reflective practice must demonstrate an understanding of key elements of this unit through the use of early childhood
literature drawn from the required text, set readings and other materials presented throughout the semester.

Task 2: Philosophy Statement connected to professional standards
Students will write a personal philosophy relevant to working as a teacher in early childhood education (0-8 years). The personal philosophy should identify:
• understandings about young children and how they learn
• understandings about effective pedagogies for the early years
• ethical and professional roles and responsibilities of the early childhood teacher
A statement of belief will be written about each of the above, this should be supported by a discussion, which draws on evidence from literature to explain the ideas and supports your statement. Belief statements will also inform a statement about practice as an early childhood teacher and reflect on the links to professional standards for teachers (ACECQA and AITSL).

Task 3: Case study
The purpose of this assignment is to articulate a personal vision for pedagogy and early childhood curriculum decision-making that critically reflects on ethical and professional roles and responsibilities of the early childhood teacher. (AGTS 1 2, 1 3, 1 4, 7.1; ACECQA Cl, C2, C4, C7,E1, E2, E3; The submission of this assignment will be via LEO in PDF format Students will receive feedback via LEO. This assignment will be marked on a five-point scale according to the criteria in the appendix to this Unit Outline. Students will prepare a case study of the implementation of a curriculum program in an ECE setting (3 - 8 years old). Students gather information and documentation about the program that allows them to present a case study of the ways in which curriculum decision-making is presented in a particular
setting.

During the course of your field visits you will gather the information on which the case will be discussed (plan for this early in the FV schedule). This assessment should be created in a word document and uploaded to LEO in PDF format.
