Assessment Task 12 consists of the following sections

Section 1: Analyse training product and learner cohort

Section 2: Develop an online learning and assessment plan

Section 3: Develop resources and seek approval

Student instructions:

Scenario

A client has approached Australia Wide Training to organise the training and assessment of three employees who live in three different states of Australia. The client is specifically interested in AWT’s Employability Training Courses. They have asked that the employees be enrolled into the same training program (unit of competency) from this suite of training and have requested that all three employees be trained together to promote cross-regional engagement.

The training will be conducted in a virtual classroom over three 30-minute sessions, with the first two sessions covering training (it is expected the learners will complete additional learning in their own time). The third session will cover assessment requirements. Your manager has asked that you develop a suitable plan and customise the available resources to ensure they suit this delivery mode before facilitating the training.

This task requires you to plan and prepare to deliver online training and assessment.

This will include:

  • Identifying an appropriate Employability Training Course offered by AWT
  • Developing an online training and assessment learning plan to suit online/distance-based training
  • Customising learning materials to suit the needs of the online learners
  • Customising the assessment process to suit the needs of the online learners

All documents required to complete this task are located on the AWT Intranet.

Section 1: Analyse training product and learner cohort

Scenario

You must first review the available units of competency that are listed on the AWT Intranet section ‘Employability Training Course Resources’ and identify a suitable unit of competency to deliver. To do this, you need to conduct an analysis to determine if the unit of competency meets the needs of the client and the employees.

Student instructions

You are required to conduct a needs analysis to ensure the unit of competency you have selected will meet the needs of the client and your online/distance-based learner group.

To complete this task, you will need to access the following:

  • AWT Intranet > Employability Training Courses
  • Client brief 3
  • Learner cohort 3
  • The units of competency AWT have on their scope of registration
  • Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) documents
  • AWT templates:

Training Needs Analysis Form o Learner’s Needs Analysis Form

  • National Register of VET (training.gov.au)
  • Australian Core Skills Framework – this tool includes example activities that help build foundation skills • Digital Skills frameworks – this tool includes example activities that help build foundation digital skills

Part A: Review the request

Review the information provided in the client brief and use this information to identify an AWT Employability Training Course that will suit the client’s needs. Complete the following table.

  • Which unit of competency do you believe would be suitable for this training?
  • What is the purpose of this training program and how does the unit of competency meet the client’s needs.
  • Where will this training be delivered?
  • Arethere any workplace and/or personal constraints you anticipate with the delivery of training?

Part B: Review the T AS

You are now required to access and review the TAS for your selected unit of competency and complete a training needs analysis.

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Review TAS and complete a training needs analysis.

  • Access the AWT intranet.
  • Download and review the TAS document for online delivery for your selected unit.
  • Download and complete the AWT Training Need Analysis Form.
  • Save this form to your computer and rename this form - Task 12 Training Need Analysis.
  • Upload your completed Training Need Analysis Form to the e-learning portal.

Step 2: Review the information you have collated from the TAS and the Client brief 3. Complete the following table.

  • What tools/resources outlined in the unit of competency do the learners need to have access to?
  • What digital tools do your learners need to have access to ensure they can participate in this training program?

Part C: Review learner cohort

Review the profiles of learner cohort 3 located on the AWT intranet. For each of the three learners identify:

  • Their learning needs
  • What support you can provide during online/distance-based training
  • What resources/tools you need to adapt
  • Requirements for support

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Access the AWT intranet.

Step 2: Download the AWT Learner’sNeeds Analysis Form and complete a separate analysis for each learner. Save these forms to your computer and rename them for each learner - Task 12 Learner 1 Needs Analysis, Task 12 Learner 2 Needs Analysis, etc.

Step 3: Upload your three (3) completed Learner’s Need Analysis Forms to the e-learning portal.

Your completed Training Needs Analysis and Learner’sNeeds Analysis for each of the three learners must be uploaded to the e-Learning portal.

Section 2: Develop an online learning and assessment plan

Scenario

Now that you have identified the unit of competency from the Employability Training Courses you will be delivering and assessing, you need to develop an online learning and assessment plan to record the process and practices you will undertake to meet the needs of your learner cohort. When doing this, you will need to review the existing face-to-face learning plan on the AWT intranet and use this to adapt the relevant parts of the learning plan to an online environment. You must also review the available training and assessment material to determine how you can customise them for use in your online/distance-based training program.

You will also need to determine:

  • The technological resources you and your learners require to ensure training can be delivered via a virtual classroom
  • The training and assessment resources you and your learners require to meet the performance objectives for the unit of competency

This information must be documented in your online learning and assessment plan. This plan will be used to facilitate online training.

Student instructions

You are required to develop an online learning and assessment plan that forms part of the training program. You will need to review the existing training and assessment resources and determine how you will customise them to suit the online delivery mode, Client brief 3 and Learner cohort 3.

Your online learning and assessment plan must include:

  • Two synchronous 30-minute training sessions, which include two different asynchronous activities.
  • One 30-minute assessment session, which includes:
  • One asynchronous assessment process that candidates complete individually.
  • One synchronous assessment process, in which at least three candidates attend the online assessment session at the same time.

You will use this plan to facilitate your online training program in Task 13.

To complete this task, you will need to access the following:

  • The Training Needs Analysis Form you developed in Section 1
  • The three Learner’s Needs Analysis Forms you developed in Section 1
  • AWT Intranet > Employability Skills Resources - Unit of your choice:
  •  The available learning material
  • Face-to-face learning plan
  • Training and assessment strategy (TAS) for online delivery
  •  AWT templates:
  •  Online learning and assessment plan • AWT policies and procedures
  • Online Trainer Policy and Procedure o Assessor Policy and Procedure
  • Language Literacy Numeracy and Digital Skills Management Policy and Procedure o Records Management Policy and Procedure
  • Australian Core Skills Framework – this tool includes example activities that help build foundation skills • Digital Skills frameworks – this tool includes example activities that help build foundation digital skills

TAE40122 Assessment Task

Part A: Draft your plan for training delivery

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Download a copy of the Online Learning and Assessment Plan Template from the AWT Intranet. Save this form to your computer and rename this form - Task 12 Online Learning and Assessment Plan.

Step 2: Draft your learning plan.

When doing this, you must make sure you:

  • Adapt the existing face-to-face learning plan to develop two (2) logically sequenced 30-minute online

training sessions that form part of the training program. It does not need to be the entire training program over the 2 x 30min sessions. Just part of the training program.

  • Include synchronous activities that involve interaction between yourself and the learners, as well as between the learners

For example, digital whiteboards, break-out rooms for group activities or interactive quizzes and polls

  • Include two different asynchronous activities for your learners to complete individually (away from the group)

For example, research tasks, reflective formative quizzes, digital handouts, homework activities, or videos where they view videos and answer questions
