The correlation was conducted on patient satisfaction vs the patient age. The data were collected for 20 patients. Figure 1 shows the plot of the relationship between satisfaction and age.

a)Based on the plot, describe the relationship between patient satisfaction and age of the patients. (5marks)

Ans: The graph shows the negative correlation between patient satisfaction and age. As the age increases, the satisfaction decreases. The youngest patient age 30 was about 95% satisfied whereas the oldest patient aged about 80 was about 80% satisfied.

b)Using correlation analysis, the following results are obtained:
Correlation of determination (r2) = 0.916
Best fit equation of the relationship: y = 1.60x + 146

i)What is the usefulness of a correlation analysis of the data? (5marks)
Ans: The result is most useful as 91%of the data correlates and the correlation can be explained. We can use this data to say that as age increase, the satisfaction level decrease.
ii)    Using this equation, predict the satisfaction level of a patient who is 85 years old. (5marks)
Ans: 
Y = -1.60 X + 146
Y = (-1.60 x 85) + 146
Y = -136 + 146
Y = 10
