Task 1.2

a)Identify and analyse required project documentation to ensure structural adequacy and good construction practices associated with this project.

e)Prepare a pre-commencement site inspection check listas described in ‘Pre-commencement site inspection” section of the Connect learning material. Consider all items required to be addressed before you could commence onsite construction. (i.e. power, water, amenities’, access, documents etc. Make sure you could use this onsite)

- You are to create a checklist for each of the following eight (8) stages/scenarios for construction of a lowset slab on ground dwelling.
- The first part of your checklists should include which part of the NCC applies and which Australian standards would be used to ensure compliance. The second part of the checklist should address the steps in the task and any checks which should be completed prior to the next stage of the work be commenced (The QBCC standards and tolerences guide and any relevant manufacturers installationdocuments will be helpful for this task)

- You are to select and inspect a pre-1980`s built building, or similar structure, in your area that you can use for this case study. You are to present a report that addressed all of the following criteria below.

- Requirements:
- You are to provide a professional document/report (suitable for use by another party) that details the
- criteria listed below. Within this document/report you are to include the site and plan selections, as well
- as the calculations, findings and questions.
- You are required to use AS1684 for timber size, grade, bracing and tie down.
- Note: The wind classification for this site will be N3
- Select a residential vacant block, in your local area, and a for the house design in the ‘CPCCBC4010B_AS3_Tafe House Architectural Plans’ provided and produce a pre commencement site inspection report showing photos and details of your chosen block.

- Requirements:
- Produce a COMPLETE list of structural components (timber and/or steel sizes, strength grade etc.) for the attached plans plans (‘CPCCBC4010B_AS3_Tafe House Architectural Plans’). Use of AS1684.2 is required and will be the basis for timber sizing.

- Should you choose to use steel bearers for the above you must provide the steel span tables with your submission.
- Identify the kN Resistance Force for bracing in both directions for the project. You DO NOT have to calculate the racking force on the sub-floor area. Show all calculations in how you have determined the racking forces.
- Calculate the bracing required for the first floor and nominate the bracing type and locations on the floor plan. (Use at least 2 different types of Bracing: eg. Strap, Ply Brace, FC Sheet etc. Nominal bracing can be used. Use of, and reference to, AS1684 is a requirement of this task). Provide a bracing schedule that shows all calculations, etc.
- Produce a tie-down schedule (include calculations for uplift force, etc) for the first floor plan. Tie-Down requirements for the following tie-down points must be presented:

- •Stud to top plate, and
- •Truss to top plate.
- Alternatively you may present as a series of labelled diagrams. (Use and reference to AS1684, is a requirement of this task.)

- Using the AS 1684.2 and a wind classification of N3, complete the following tasks. The design calculations are to be presented as a professional document (suitable for submission to an estimator). The checklist must be able to be used onsite.
- Design and draw a plan and section of a deck and patio entertaining area 6.0m wide x 5.0m long.
- Details: Height to underside of rafters is 2.3m from the deck, attached to existing fascia. Posts will be 90mm X 90mm HWD on stirrups. 90mm decking to floor on treated pine joist and bearer system. Treated pine rafters and ‘Colorbond’ metal sheet roof. The deck is 1.7m from the existing ground level. Access from the deck to the yard is required. The 6.0m side has a view of the hinterland and the client has requested that the only posts to be used will be on the corners of the patio deck.
- Design all Structural Members using AS1684.2, or from a suitable manufacturer’s design software. Keep in mind that the 6.0m beam should not obscure the view. Therefore consider the size of the beam, and type of beam.
- Include all your calculations in determining the structural member sizing, including copies of the AS1684.2 tables used, with relevant parameters used highlighted, or a print out from the software program which shows the details you have used.
- Use AS1684.2 to design a footing that would be suitable for the patio deck project, i.e. size, depth and concrete type.
- Include in your response how you would set the footings out, and the table/s used to determine the footing size. Highlight the parameters you have used to size the footings.
