This Assessment 1 (as outlined below) requires you write a literature review, as part of this you will need to identify a research question and appropriate literature to address the question.
The Assessment 2 requires you to synthesis your literature review into a research poster, write an abstract and present this at a the Midwifery Project seminar day.
Assessment 1: Literature review (2500 word equivalent, excluding references)
You are required to formulate a research question based on an area of midwifery practice that really interests you. It is recommended that you consider a practice that has previously been researched so that you can find sufficient literature to write your literature review. Once you determine your research question, you need to locate 6 to 10 sources of literature published in the last 10 years. This can include primary and secondary sources. Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and policy documents may also be used where appropriate to support the literature review. To assist in the synthesis of research articles, it is recommended that you use the data extraction tools and analysis tools provided in this course. Please note the UniSA Harvard referencing guide applies to all written assessments in this course. Additionally, the SONM Academic Writing Requirements should be followed to format your assessment:
• Use plain fonts such as Arial or Calibri
• Ideal font size is 12 (no smaller than 11)
• Use 1.5 line spacing
• Set margins at 2.5cm
• Number the pages
Your Literature Review should be set out as follows: (word count for each section is a guide only)

INTRODUCTION: (300 words)
1. Talk about immigrants; where they come from, why they leave their homeland, what moving to a new country entail
2. Introduce postnatal depression and the impact it can have on mother, baby and the wider community 
3. CONNECT ALL POINTS 
4. Introduce reason for research: not enough is known about the mental health of immigrant women in their postnatal period after birthing in Australia
INCLUDE: how there have been studies examining the immigrant mental health however, there is little known about the extent of the problem

DISCUSSION: Paragraph each about factors listed below (1700 words total)
