I am exploring IT PM assignment on Primavera P 6

Assume all relationships are FS

Suppose you are the project manager for the following project, complete all the tasks in P6.

Set up a new project “Mini Project 1”.

Add all 7 activities in the project, name them from “1” to “7”, every one of them should be “task dependent” and the duration type should be “Fixed Duration & Units”

• Provide a network diagram (from P6) for the project (screenshot 1).
• Determine the critical path
• Determine the slack times (both free and total) for all of the tasks (list).
• This completes your plan for the project schedule.
• During project plan execution, you become aware of the need to change the duration of Task 4 to five days. Meanwhile, Task 3 will only take one day.
• Provide another network diagram and a critical path for the changes.
• What, if any, effect do these changes have on your project? (write down the answer)
• Import project “P6 Assignment 5-1.xer”.

1. For activity 5:

a. Add constrain: "finish on" 2/13/2025

b. Take a screenshot of the critical path.

c. What are the changes on activity 5’s total float and free float? (before and after) (6 points)

2. For activity 3:

a. Add constrain: "start on" 1/15/2025

b. Take a screenshot of the critical path.

c. What are the changes on activity 3’s total float and free float? (before and after)

3. Remove all the constrains and lags in the current project, as well as the project “must finish by” date, take a screenshot of the Activity network.

Assignment 

Import Project "P6 Assignment 5-2.xer", add “Planned Labor Units” for each activity (under “status tab: of the activities), based on the following table. Keep duration type as “Fixed duration & units”

No need to add Milestones S and E.

Budgeted Labor units = Planned Labor units

Add activity "project admin" as "level of effort", and connect it to the activity network using proper dependencies (it should be started when the project begins and ended with the project)

Gantt chart without summary bars but include the level of efforts.

We decided that "Student page design" can be conducted at the same time as "Faculty/staff page design" (sharing the same predecessors and successors). Make changes to the existing relationships accordingly. Take the following screenshots:

Critical Path only (not the entire activity network), without WBS grouping.

When changing relationships between activities, you should always delete the existing dependencies and set up the new ones. Because only one relationship can exist between two activities.

Always remember to click the “schedule” button to get the updated schedule and critical path.
