 How does a principal of the school perceive his/her role in transforming school into a learning organization? Problem statement Effective organizational leaders develop progressive organizational cultures, develop employees’ motivation, clarify vision and organizational objectives, and guide the whole efforts towards high performance and outcomes (Sirisetti, 2011).

The question will help me to investigate the role of principal to transform school in to learning organization. According to my experience, majority of the schools in Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan performing with same profile and condition. Because the principal has same working pattern / style and they are focused on academic performance of the students rather than the whole school improvement. However the school leadership is facing many challenges while performing their responsibilities. For instance they have multiple roles and responsibilities in the school, such as providing support to the teachers and students in academic activities, dealing with parents or community, and also look into the administrative and managerial matters.

So the involvement in multiple task and responsibilities make the leadership role ineffective and ultimately its effects on the overall development of the school. Moreover, leadership skills and epistemological knowledge are important factors, to develop vision and long term planning for school improvement. But due to lacking in conceptual and leadership skills the principals just focus on some certain areas of the school improvement, such as teaching and learning and students results. It is the prime responsibility of the principals to develop professional organization in which all members are able to learn new skills and knowledge continuously, so that they are capable of dealing with change and make more effective learning organization.

In response to this problem, my study proposes to investigate several leadership styles and skills like transformational, pedagogical leadership skills and transitional leadership for making the role of leadership more effective. Case study method will be used to study the problem. Similarly for the purpose of data collection I will use structured interviews (school principals, teachers, students and parents) documents analysis and personal observation. Furthermore the data will be analyzed through transcribing, coding and develop theme process to find out the results and suggest recommendations. please check this.
