Highlights
Overview
The Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching Foundations in Coaching is a postgraduate-level certificate accredited by the University of Reading which gives 30 Masters-level credits. There are two assessments for the Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching Foundations in Coaching.
Self-reflection
Points that should be addressed include awareness of personal coaching style, areas of particular competence and confidence, areas still for development and a commentary on how coaching theory translates into practice for the individual. Your reflection should contain two development themes based on critical incidents in your coaching journey.
Critical incidents refer to the point that led to your realization that this was a key theme for you to explore.
A critical incident could be an experience from your coaching, from the feedback you have received or anything that brought you to the realisation that this was a focus for your learning. The word self-reflection assignment should refer directly to a portfolio of evidence to be collected in the appendices; this is material that has been collected over the duration of the program.
You can include extracts from your learning journal and other pieces of evidence to support your self-reflection assignment, such as client feedback, in the appendices. However, for every piece of supporting evidence you submit you must refer to it in your narrative;
The assignment should also refer to the literature and have a reference list at the end of the text. This is a self-reflection and a part of that reflection is learning to explore your reflection in light of the published literature. In drawing on coaching journals and books, the aim is to view the concepts critically, explore differing views and draw your informed conclusions from your reading.

Recorded coaching session
As part of the Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching/Foundations in Coaching, you are asked to record a coaching session to show evidence of your coaching practice and acquisition of the required coaching skills. This session should be 30 minutes in length.
The University’s policy is to allow a range of the maximum assignment length. If your assignment is outside of these limits, your assignment will be penalized. It should be recorded on a digital device.
