One (1) of these must be a nursing journal article, and another one (1), must be from a reputable nursing Website source or report (e.g. the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)codes and guidelines). Thus, a minimum of five (5) references are to be used for this essay.
3. All references, whether used in-text or in the reference list must be formatted in line with APA 7th edition referencing style. Essay Question: Discuss how the nurse would use professional communication to ensure patient safety, person-centred care, and reflective practice to develop a therapeutic relationship with the patient in the case scenario below.
Scenario:
Doreen Green, 72 years of age, lives alone in her own home since her husband died 2 years ago. Doreen has a 39-year-old son who lives in another state and visits infrequently since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic almost 10 months ago. Doreen has just been admitted to your ward via the Emergency Department for dehydration related to poor fluid intake. Doreen has a small pet cat at home and she has been repeatedly telling the nurses that she is very concerned about her cat and who might look after it while she is in hospital. During the handover, the night shift nurse who was caring for Doreen reported that she has been very distressed about her cat. The nurse also reports that Doreen had a fall when getting up to go to the toilet in the night but did not sustain any injuries. Doreen Green: Female, height 162 cm; weight 52 kg (BMI = 20). BP 96/ 40mmHg, HR 100b/min, RR 20b/min, Temperature 36.8 C, SaO2 99% on room air.
