Professional Development Session Assignment 2

This assignment allows you to demonstrate that you can teach what you know about a passage, and use your passages in prayer, using two recognised approaches.

Part A:

Prepare a professional development session for teachers outlining the theoretical underpinnings of BOTH selected approaches, the component parts (how the approach is structured) and how it would or would not fit into your Diocesan model of Religious Education.

Part B:

Develop a sequence of lessons modelling the teaching approach described in your PD session. The Scripture passage you use is to be the one you wrote about in your essay. The two outcomes of the sequence should state:

1. what students will learn about the passage,

2. what opportunities they will be provided with in order to interpret the passage for:

a). the original audience the passage was written for
b). themselves
