Part 2: Application of professional standards

Standard 3: Demonstrates the capability and accountability for midwifery practice (NMBA, 2018) includes 8 points about how the registered midwife maintains capability for practice. Whilst considering these 8 points:

• Describe a situation from your current clinical placement where you have been delegated responsibility to take action. Your description should include the context of midwifery practice and health care delivery, who was involved, what you were delegated to do, how you enacted the delegated responsibility or action and the outcome.
• Discuss how you demonstrated the application of the relevant professional standards (within your scope of practice as a student midwife) and reflect upon the accountability for your decisions, actions, behaviours, and responsibilities.

Demonstrate the use of evidence-based research (peer reviewed journal articles, policies and/or protocols) including the use of academic writing principles and APA 7th ed. referencing.
