Context

The increase in the use of projects by all organisations has led to the development of project management offices and the management of projects through programmes and portfolios. Individual projects are no longer undertaken as single stand-alone entities, instead are one of a number of projects that benefit from being managed as such. Consequently, it is important that project managers understand portfolio management and how this can benefit their particular project. Whilst the benefits of managing a number of projects as a portfolio are well understood, the benefit of this to the individual project and project manager is less so, it is this that forms the focus of this assessment.

Task
