For this group assignment, you are required to conduct and write a literature review. You will work in groups of 5-7 people to produce a literature review based on one of the following articles. Tutors will randomly allocate you to your assignment groups based on your tutorial groupings. Please attend tutorials to find out this information (as well as to not get barred from the final exam).

First, read your chosen (i.e. lead) article. Understand what the authors examined, what they found, and why the study is important. Then, find related articles and review those. You may want to refer to other studies citing your lead article – click the ‘Cited by...’ link on the Google Scholar entry to the lead article and see what turns up.

Second, after you have reviewed a substantial amount of related studies, you need to write a literature review on a topic related to your lead and reviewed articles. How are the studies you have reviewed related to one another? Are the results from those studies consistent among your reviewed studies? What theories/theoretical frameworks guided the research in this area? Has the research advanced significantly, and in meaningful ways after the
publication of the lead article?

Third, and most challengingly, you will need to propose a new and improved study from the one in your lead and reviewed papers. This proposed study needs to improve on what is currently known, and be a logical, useful extension from existing literature. The quality of this section depends on how well you write the literature review. A thorough, well-argued literature review will help justify your new proposed study well. In contrast, a descriptive, superficial literature review will instead be minimally linked to any new study proposed. In short, you are conducting, and writing a literature review so that you can identify a gap and proposed a study that has not been conducted before.
