Assessment 2: Career Analysis About this Assignment

This assignment is marked out of 35 and is worth 35% of the final mark for the unit. In this unit we have explored the various career options that psychology might be useful for after completing an undergraduate degree in psychology. We have looked at both the professional practice of psychology and non-psychologist roles. In this assignment, you will continue to explore career options by conducting a career analysis. You will review two job advertisements from a selection of job advertisements provided to you.

One job advertisement will be for a role as a psychologist and one job advertisement will be for a non-psychologist role. The focus of the assignment is to identify the educational/training pathways and key skills required for each role, and to provide a comparison of these. Note: Two options for the registered psychologist job role and two options for the nonpsychologist job role have been provided on Blackboard ? Assessments ? Assessment 2 folder. Choose one psychologist role advertisement and one non-psychologist role advertisement for this assessment. Do not use advertisements outside of these options and do not choose more than one advertisement from each category.

This assignment does not require you to refer to the academic, peer-reviewed literature. However, you must show evidence of engagement with at least one appropriate, official website and your unit textbook. You must paraphrase information and cite all sources used for your assignment, including the unit textbook and reputable websites, using APA 7th edition standards (see more on academic integrity and referencing below). nstructions 2 Assignment Instructions You are required to choose one registered psychologist job advertisement and one nonregistered psychologist job advertisement from the advertisements provided to you in the Assessment 2 folder on Blackboard. Part 1 (6 marks) For your two chosen job advertisements (one psychologist role and one non-psychologist role): • Provide a description of each role, as detailed in the job advertisement (2 marks). • Describe the educational and training pathway required to qualify for each role in Australia (4 marks). You must include any relevant tertiary training and registration requirements. Part 2 (8 marks) For your two chosen job advertisements (one psychologist role and one non-psychologist role): • Describe the key skills, responsibilities, and tasks required for each role (8 marks). You will need to provide an account of any essential/required skills outlined in each job advertisement and use other relevant resources (see Resources requirements) to identify key skills that have not been detailed in the job advertisement that may be important to each role. This may include information about the core competencies of general registration, key experiences and training, important interpersonal traits, and so on. Part 3 (6 marks) • Using both the two chosen job advertisements and other relevant resources (see Resources requirements), compare the psychologist role to the non-psychologist role (6 marks). Outline the key similarities and differences of each role, including any essential skills, qualifications, and areas of responsibility. Consider how an undergraduate degree in psychology would be beneficial to each role. English [removed]4 marks) Your writing should: • Be clear and concise. • Be free of grammatical, spelling (Australian English), and typographical errors. • Have excellent sentence and paragraph structure (as per APA 7th edition requirements), such that points are presented in a cohesive manner. Tip: Make sure to use spell check and to proofread your assignment prior to submission. Resources (4 marks) In completing this assignment, you should: • Use the unit content as a starting point for your knowledge on this topic (but you cannot use the unit content as a citation). • Refer to the unit textbook. • Refer to at least one reputable and relevant website (e.g., AHPRA website, APS website etc.). 3 Referencing (5 marks) When writing your assignment, you must: • Paraphrase all material from another source, including the textbook and official websites. • Avoid using quotes, as doing so will not demonstrate your understanding of the material. • Use frequent APA 7th edition formatted in-text citations. • Include all sources used and cited in your assignment in a complete APA 7th edition formatted end-text reference list. Appropriate paraphrasing and referencing of material are essential components of upholding the academic integrity of your assignment. All assignments will be reviewed for academic integrity and text matching to other sources, as well as examined for the use of any artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Breaches of academic integrity will be considered as misconduct and will be managed accordingly.

Formatting (2 marks) To ensure fairness, your assignment must adhere to the following formatting requirements: • Double (2.0) line spacing • Calibri 12pt font • 2.5cm borders on top, bottom, and sides • An APA 7th edition formatted running head • APA 7th edition formatted page numbers • All headings and subheadings used should be formatted in APA 7th edition style • Your submission cannot exceed 4 pages, excluding your reference list. Any text beyond the 4-page limit, when your assignment is formatted per the above requirements, will not be marked. There is no need to write out the assignment question that you are answering. Simply number each part of your assessment (i.e., Part One, Part Two, and Part Three). Marking Rubric A rubric outlining the marking criteria for this assessment is provided on Blackboard ? Assessments ? Assessment 2 folder. You will be marked in accord with these criteria and are, therefore, advised to use this rubric to guide your completion of the assignment. Assignment Submission Your assignment must be submitted as a Word document to Turnitin using the submission portal provided on Blackboard ? Assessments ? Assessment 2 folder. You can submit as many drafts as you want to the submission portal up to the assignment deadline. The version that is uploaded to the submission portal at the assignment deadline will be considered final.

Please note that if you are submitting your assignment after the deadline, you can only resubmit your assignment once. A separate submission portal will be provided for students with CAPs and extensions. Please only use the portal that is applicable to your own circumstances. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have correctly submitted your assessment.

If you have submitted correctly, 4 you should receive an email receipt of your submission. You must save this email receipt as proof of your assignment submission. If you experience difficulties with submitting your assignment, email the final version of your assignment to PSYC1002@curtin.edu.au before the assignment deadline (alongside screenshot evidence of the technological issue you are experiencing) and continue trying to upload to Turnitin. Extensions and Late Assessments Refer to your PSYC1002 Unit Outline for details on Assessment Extensions and the link to the online application form.

Students who submit their assessment after the due date and time without an approved extension or Curtin Access Plan (CAP) will receive a late penalty in accordance with the university policy on late assessments, as described in the Unit Outline.
