Our overall aim across these three assessments is to identify and evaluate wellbeing initiatives and then design your own wellbeing initiative.

A good place to start planning your assessments is thinking about a social or ecological wellbeing issue that you’re concerned about. Throughout the course we explore environmental challenges like climate change and food insecurity, and social challenges such as loneliness and alienation, poverty and homelessness. There are a lot of challenging issues that affect our wellbeing and our community’s and our planet’s wellbeing. What area would you like to explore by developing a wellbeing initiative (i.e. what might you like to design for A3)? Loneliness in aged care facilities? Community discord between different cultural groups? Climate change? Rising suicide rates in the farming community? A local dump that is over capacity because of increased waste? 

Once you’ve narrowed down what’s important to you and what you’d like to address through Assessment 3, find existing initiatives on this issue (Assessment 1) and then identify what works and why (Assessment 2). Now you’re ready to use this as an evidence-base for developing your own initiative (Assessment 3)!

TASK DESCRIPTION

In Assessment 1, you are required to choose an environmental/social issue covered in the unit material. You willidentify 10 wellbeing/resilience initiatives that respond to this issue. 

1. Source, research and curate a minimum of 10 wellbeing and resilience initiatives at local and global scales on your environmental/social issue.
2. Use a curating platform (e.g. Pinterest) or word document to display the websites of the initiatives. 

In your curation, there must be at least one initiative from each of the below:
• A local council
• A state government in Australia
• The Australian Federal government
• A government from another country
• A private initiative (e.g. social enterprise start up)
• A community group
