Overview (this overview section does not need to be included in your report): The main task involved performing a series of key-press sequences in a specified order (see slides from Practical 1 on the iLearn page for details of the task). Before the main task, participants performed two training conditions (human vs robot). Each condition involved a unique set of key-press sequences. The human and robot conditions involved watching a human hand or a robot hand perform a series of key-press sequences. The no training condition involved no practice (i.e., control key-press sequences were not practiced, and only performed during the test phase). In the practical class, students had a chance to practice the task by physically performing the sequences before and after watching other people perform the sequences. The data were not collected during the practical, however. The data were collected previously and are provided in summarised format at the end of this document – one datapoint per condition per participant. The data can also be downloaded in an excel sheet via iLearn. There were 50 participants in total who completed the experiment. Your report should cover the following sections: Abstract: At the beginning of your report, you should include a short paragraph that summarises your report. Introduction: Background motivation for the project should be provided, including an explicitly stated aim and hypothesis. Aim: To compare the effect of observational learning between a human and a robot model. 2 Hypothesis: Your hypothesis must be declarative (i.e., state the relationship between the IV and DV), directional (i.e., indicate if something will be “higher” or “lower”, “increase” or “decrease”), and falsifiable (i.e., we could find evidence that either supports the hypothesis or refutes it). Methods: Participants: • 50 undergraduate psychology students.
