Context of Potential Health
The case scenario discussed the health issues in the elderly population aged 65 years and above. The burden of the elderly population is increasing globally and with this, the rate of different chronic diseases is also increasing. In Australia, around in everAustralians are aged 65 years and above. The risk of depression anxiety arthritis and dementia was common in non-indigenous Australians living in residential aged care whereas Indigenous Australians living in aged care had similar concerns too (AIHW, 2021). Aging will be associated with age-related health issues such as hearing loss diabetes osteoarthritis, pain cataracts and dementia. Osteoarthritis is a common health issue in elderly Australians. The report by Watts, Ambimanyi-Ochom and Sander (2020) revealed that a million Australians over the age of 50 years have osteoporosis and it is estimated that million of Australians will suffer from the problem.
