You will use the template provided to create a portfolio of 3 photographs of public health interventions, representing 3 different action areas of the Ottawa Charter. For each of the photographs, you will provide a written description of the related public health issue that these interventions are responding to.
Instructions

• Complete these instructions and watch the Assessment Task 2 online lecture (located in Resources)
• Download and review the ‘Public Health Portfolio Template’
• Conduct initial research to identify public health interventions/issues in Australia. Your learning materials in Weeks 1-3 will be useful to begin this process. These include the ‘What is Public Health’ online lecture, the ‘What is the “New Public Health” reading’, along with resources released by the Public Health Association of Australia and Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
• Review the action areas of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion in the learning materials of Week 3.
• Based on your understanding of public health and current public health issues in Australia, look around your local community (home, workplace, university, leisure spaces etc.) and identify examples of public health interventions that corresponds to different action areas of the Ottawa Charter.
• Photograph 3 of these public health interventions, adhering to the checklist provided in the ‘Public Health Portfolio Template’. The checklist requires you to answer “Yes” to the following 4 questions:
• Does each photo exclude people?
• Did I take each photograph myself?
• Did I consider my safety before taking each photograph?
• Is the “This is public health, 2021” logo visible in each photograph?
• Write approximately 100-150 word description for each photograph.
• Each description should:
• Identify (in ten words or less) the public health intervention in your photo. Use your own words (no academic reference required);
• Name the action area of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion that the intervention corresponds to;
• Name the public health issue that your intervention is responding to;
• Outline accurate and meaningful descriptive epidemiological data related to the public health issue that your intervention is responding to. Use dot points to format these – one data statement per dot point.
• Place all 3 photos and descriptions in the ‘Public Health Portfolio Template’
• Examples of credible sources of descriptive epidemiological data are provided in the Resources section.
• Use of tables and figures is not recommended for this task.
• There is a minimum of 5 credible references for this task.
• A single reference list using Vancouver (JAMA) style referencing is to be placed at the end of the portfolio.
• Review the file size of your completed portfolio – it must be less than 10MB for uploading via SafeAssign to Blackboard
