I aim to learn how to make the “perfect” cinnamon buns. I am going to do this by finding a recipe on the internet and asking a few people to do some taste testing and give the buns a score between 1-5 for the following aspects; flavour, appearance, density and overall taste (1 being unsatisfactory and 5 being delicious). Each time I will make the cinnamon buns, I will change one thing about the recipe from the previous batch. I have planned out 6 experiments and for each experiment I will record my findings in a hedonic scale and star diagram.

I found the recipe for the cinnamon buns on BBC Food. In order for me to be able to make the perfect cinnamon buns, I aim to learn new baking skills that I currently do not have, I need to do some research on the function of each ingredient in the recipe in order to learn how each ingredient works combined with others and watch some YouTube tutorials for extra guidance. My expectations are that my first attempt may not be as successful but the more I repeat the experiment the more likely I am to make the perfect cinnamon bun through trial and error. My expectations can be justified through Thorndike’s theory of trial and error. According to Thorndike, learning takes place through a process of approximation and correction. A person makes a number of trials some responses do not give satisfaction to the individual, but he goes on making further trial till he gets satisfactory response
