Literature Critique
A critique of the literature is an extremely important step in the research process.
A research critique is a complete examination of a study to judge its strengths, weaknesses, logical links, meaning and significance.
Remember, the real skill behind a critique is not simply identifying problems, but problems that are large enough to affect the results.

Your literature critique should outline significant problems and errors that are present within the literature
Be sure to follow the marking guide criteria as a framework for your assessment
Preferably use some headings drawn from the marking guide
References are to be no more than 10 years old
Introduction
This is a Qualitative nursing critique of “Nurses’ perceptions of reasons for persistent low rates in hand hygiene compliance”. The Purpose of this paper is to identify the validity of the research as well as any gaps in the research. The research was approved by the Institutional Reivew Board (IRB), which included a peer facilitated review process and a final review and approval from IRB. The paper was published by a well know publisher, indicating the paper is of good quality and relevance. The research undertaken was pertinent to the title of the paper and questioned being asked/answered. The paper discussed several other articles on prior research done relating to hand hygiene in clinical settings. The study and the questionnaire were developed from a literally review “Challenges of Hand Hygiene in Healthcare: The Development of a Tool Kit to Create Supportive Processes and Environments” this literature review states that Hand hygiene compliance by healthcare workers has remained difficult to attain due to varied settings, work culture, processes and task requirements. Because of this complication, this literature review suggests that a system needs to be developed that matches human cognitive and physical strengths where adjustments can be made allowing for human limitations.
