The assessment for this module is a 3,000-word report of an analysis of an interview that you conduct. This provides you with practice at interviewing, analysis and writing up a qualitative report. The report is based on a single interview, with yourself as the interviewer. The topic is for you to determine within the context of the experiences of people on the MSc course, something to do with work or with health.  
 
This is not researched, it is an exercise relating to teaching, so you do not need to obtain ethical clearance, but you do need to stay within the limits of interviewing a fellow member of the course on a topic relating to your MSc.

Practice interview We do recommend that, especially if you have not done it before, carrying out one or more practice interviews, either in pairs or in a group. Take it in turns to be the interviewer and the interviewee. Pick a topic (preferably the topic you will choose for the assignment - then you can improve it), devise a set of questions, and carry out the interview. Afterward, have a discussion about what worked and what didn’t work with the interview. Were the questions too closely, making it difficult for the interviewee to respond in a detailed manner? Did you have prompts to encourage the interviewee to provide further details? Did your questions cover the full range of the topic? Did you develop a suitable rapport with your participant?
