Task Overview

You are required to complete a series of short-answer questions that link the research topic selected in Assessment One with qualitative research practice.

Objectives

You will be asked to:

1. Qualitative Research Question and Aims

• Demonstrate how to develop a qualitative research question and associated research aim(s).

• Ensure that your research question and aims are epistemologically consistent with qualitative research practice.

2. Epistemology and Methodology in Qualitative Research

• Describe how the epistemological and methodological foundations of qualitative research influence:

  • The type of research questions asked.

  • The methods used in your research topic.

3. Data Collection and Analysis in Qualitative Research

• Explain how to collect and analyse qualitative data in a way that is epistemologically congruent with qualitative research traditions.

Part A: Quantitative Research Short Answer Questions

Objectives

You will answer short-answer questions that connect your selected research topic (from Assessment One) with quantitative research practice.

You will be required to:

1. Quantitative Research Question and Aims

• Develop a quantitative research question and research aim(s) that are epistemologically consistent with quantitative research paradigms.

2. Epistemology and Methodology in Quantitative Research

• Describe how quantitative epistemology and methodology shape:

  • The formulation of research questions.

  • The methods used to address those questions.

3. Data Collection and Analysis in Quantitative Research

• Describe how to collect and analyse quantitative data in an epistemologically congruent way.

Task

Submit a 500-word written reflection discussing your experience engaging with both qualitative and quantitative research throughout the session in relation to your selected research topic.
