General comments about preparing for Quantitative Methods in Science exams
1. Repetition is always a clue for importance. Material that is presented in the textbook, lecture, and tutorial must be really important! The exception being that the binomial and Poisson distribution was not covered much in the text, these topics are still really very important.
2. This is an interdisciplinary subject that combines maths x computing x science. This subject does require some learning of definitions, but there is a strong applied nature to the subject, so practicing problem solving like redoing your tutorial and assignment problems is a good idea. Also, since this is an interdisciplinary subject you may be asked a problem that requires interleaving mathematical, computing, and science aspects.
3. Please be familiar with the readings in the textbooks and the external links to videos in the Roadmap.
4. The Checklist in the weekly Roadmaps is an excellent way for finding holes in your study preparation. Great to go over the checklist with your peers.
5. Exam questions may be similar to, or an extension of Roadmap exercises and assignment problems or matters discussed in lectures.
6. Exam questions will test your understanding of theoretical concepts, and your ability to apply these concepts to solve real world problems.
