Rationale As future health, sport, and wellness professionals/clinicians, you will use the best available evidence to inform your professional reasoning and practice. Both written assignments of this unit will help you learn the stages of finding, selecting, and using evidence. The assignments include writing activities aimed at developing your academic writing skills. You will be asked to reflect on how biases affect the use of evidence by reflecting on your own learning.
Task
There are two sections:
1. Evidence

2. Reflection This assignment continues directly from the previous Evidence Selection assignment, for which you identified an evidence question, conducted a search in CINAHL, identified characteristics, selected best available evidence, and justified your reasoning. In this second assignment, you will now search in other databases that might change your best evidence selection. You will consider the results of your three articles of best available evidence. Section 1 You will summarise the results of these articles to provide a best evidence summary that answers your original evidence question. This evidence summary should: · Summarise the key finding(s) of the studies as described by the authors. · Compare and contrast the finding(s) of the three evidence articles. · Answer the original evidence question. · Discuss finding(s) in the context of strength of evidence. Section 2
Consider the following statement. “The ability to self-assess, monitor and minimise personal bias is the basis for personal and professional information literacy and evidence-based practice.” At the completion of this process, from evidence question to evidence answer, you are asked to reflect on your personal and professional biases and identify what new understanding and skills you are developing that aim to minimise bias. How this has changed how you question and find answers about evidence. The reflection has no required structure.

SCENARIOS
You will provide an evidence summary for your chosen scenario in your Evidence Selection Assignment.
Scenario 1
You work with Autism Spectrum Australia and write a monthly newsletter column for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This month you would like to write about whether animal assisted activities with dogs can help with social behaviours of children with ASD. Find the best available evidence to inform you as to whether animal assisted therapy is effective for this group.
Scenario 2
In your work you design health promotion programs for ex-military service persons. You are interested to know more about interventions for post-traumatic stress disorder. Recently there have been changes to the availability of cannabis in NSW. Find the best available evidence to inform you as to whether medicinal cannabis is effective in reducing mental health symptoms in this group.
Scenario 3
You work with sporting teams to manage health and injuries. You have always used static stretching but now you question if this is the best way to prevent injuries for the soccer team you work with. Find the best available evidence to inform you as to whether pre-exercise static stretching is likely to be effective for preventing injuries in this team
