Students will embark in a  process in which they will observe, measure and draw carefully their domestic spaces as the space of current “ultimate refuge” for the  coming weeks.  

This subject introduces students to the foundations of spatial representation. The semester is conducted through an iterative process, whereby knowledge and skills are built upon week-by-week and across a variety of graphic representation techniques. Students will test  different formats and media such as plans, sections, elevations, sketches, collages and digital models. Ultimately, students are required  to demonstrate at the completion of the subject both their technical and speculative skills, as well as their discursive and critical thinking  abilities.

TASK DESCRIPTION:  

1) RECONSTRUCTING THE PHYSICAL REALITIES: SET OF ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS 

Each student will present a set of two digital orthographic drawings: one section/elevation and one plan of the domestic spaces. All documents must be executed with the specified CAD software of the subject (Rhinoceros 3D). Each student will select a space of approximately of 50sqm within their homes: this can mean that a student is drawing a whole apartment, or a bedroom and part of a communal area, or the fragment of a bigger residence. Students should choose the space where they spend most of their time. Thearea that the student will select can potentially incorporate indoor and outdoor private. 

The scale of the final documents will be 1:30. Students must ensure that the drawings incorporate the spatial elements conforming these domestic spaces (walls, pavements, windows, furniture, trees, shrubs...). Therefore, it is key to apply a clear hierarchy of line-types and line-weights and to execute the drawing with accuracy.
