Task summary
You will draw on all that you have learned in this unit to reflect on and analyse a business issue related to international law/business using an international business legal framework. To do this you will pick an international business trade problem that has impacted your country and use a structure based on Gibbs Reflective Cycle to write a report (maximum 2,500 words) that meets the criteria outlined in the task rubric.
In completing this task, you are expected to draw upon broader knowledge gained in your studies to this point. Including references to other readings to support and contextualise your opinion is required.
Task Description
In this assessment, apply the reflective analytical model to an issue in international business trade. You should follow all six steps in analysing international business legal frameworks.
Your task is to research an international business trade problem that has impacted your country, dissect that issue, and comment on the outcomes. You should evaluate and present evidence, ideally through references to 2-3 cases, as to how the business issue impacted business internationally, what the legal ramifications and recourse were, and whether the findings were positive or adverse to your country.  You should follow all six steps in analysing international business legal frameworks.
For example, Tasmanian Apple farmers protested the importation of New Zealand apples. The dispute was presented to the World Trade Organisation. Find out what happened at the Dispute Settlement System, what arguments were made, and what are the current/eventual outcomes of this importation. Has this been beneficial to Australia or not? You may conclude yes it has been beneficial as it has upheld international free trade agreements between Australia and New Zealand. Alternatively, you could argue that because of preferential trade agreements such as a Free Trade agreement between Australia and New Zealand, it has undermined areas which have a comparative advantage, and made them (the Tasmanians) have to resort to appeal to international law. Whatever the argument, it should be supported by legal evidence such as rules, interpretations, and cases from databases such as the library's list of recommended databases for law courses here.
