Introduction
Reflective practice is a critical requirement in the field of mental health nursing, not merely a desired ability. It helps to develop, modify, and improve therapeutic use via self-evaluation and ongoing learning. This process of self-improvement includes not only friends and co-workers but also for ourselves. One must participate in open and productive procedures that support individual development, provide assistance without judgment, and promote both inquiry and fresh learning. I will examine a crucial occurrence that happened during my professional practice in this reflection, concentrating on a therapeutic intervention including a difficult talk. I will analyse this incident using a reflective model of my choosing, looking at my abilities, behaviors, and thought patterns. Through the integration of current literature, I aim to shed light on how this experience has further shaped my understanding of the role of a mental health nurse.
Description
During a mental state assessment session, when I was charged with conversing with a service user to acquire crucial information for their treatment plan, the incident started. I made a conscious effort to build a connection by speaking politely and sympathetically because the service user seemed worried. I spoke with an open posture and a serene tone the entire time. However, the flow was interrupted by an unanticipated remark made by a co-worker who was watching the discussion and told me I dislike your style.
