Background: Reflective practice is an important learning tool for registered nurses. Through regularly engaging in this activity. the nurse is able to reflect on their actions to create a heightened awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of their current nursing practice. Such awareness then enables the nurse to implement additional strategies to transform their current and future nursing practice, through continuous professional development.

Reflect on themselves and their experiences during recent clinical placements. Ask yourself the following question; Was there a particular placement you enjoyed? Why? Was there a particular placement you disliked? Why? Were there areas/times when you excelled or struggled? Why? What factors do you associate with these rewarding/challenging periods? 
Using the Information you have gained during your self reflection, identify knowledge and/or skills gaps that you would need to address in order to work in your chosen area. These gaps will inform your continuing prolesskuwl development plan for your graduate year (addressing short term goals - first year of procroce) and your professional development plan for your career (addressing long teem goals - 5.10 years of practice).
