2 Instructions:

2.1 Undertake an analysis of the case study provided by academic staff and complete the ALL PARTS of the assignment. The word limit for the assignment is 1500words +/-10% will be acceptable. Please consider how to make information presentable ie. tables, dot point

2.2 Part 1 – Draw from the case study the relevant information and record in a SQIDS CARNTAG format.

Provide one appropriate 'high priority’ specific question you would ask to screen each of the patients:

  • Presenting complaint
  • Past medical history;
  • Family medical history; and
  • Body systems review

To accompany every question you wish to ask, please also provide your supporting rationale (briefly explain WHY it is important to ask the question) to demonstrate your clinical reasoning.

2.3 Part 2 – From the physical examinations and neuromusculoskeletal (NMSK) orthopaedic tests you have learned to date (in this course OR MEDS2147 – Medical Examination 2):

  • List all examinations you would perform in this case;
  • Describe how you would execute one NMSK orthopaedic test in detail;
  • Explain the theoretical underpinnings of how this test is thought to ‘work’ (use scientific evidence); and
  • Discuss the ‘clinical usefulness’ of the NMSK orthopaedic test you explained in detail (use scientific evidence).

The narrative will:

  • Outline which examinations are likely to support or negate your differential diagnoses
  • Include your KEY anticipated examination results, and therefore a working diagnosis
