Luke is a 6 year old boy who has a dual diagnosis of arthrogryposis congenital multiplex which affects his lower limbs and cerebral palsy with dystonia. Luke’s mother Charlie has a spinal cord injury, which occurred before Luke was born as a result of a motorbike accident. Luke and Charlie receive a lot of care from Charlie’s parents and Luke’s dad Stephen shares caring duties on the weekend. Nora is one of Luke’s permanent carers and has worked with Luke and Charlie for a number of years.

Rationale: As this unit helps to prepare you to work as an occupational therapist working with children and youth, it is important to be able to apply the knowledge about a child’s condition and to be able to develop occupational problems and goals.
