Woolworths was a successful supermarket chain in Australia in previous years, however with the strong competition in the industry and failure of their strategies brought massive losses to this supermarket chain. The chief executive of Woolworths Grant O’Brien revealed that Woolworth’s internal metrics are inefficient and suggested that the measurement system for prices, availability of products on-shelves and efficiency of store labour was going inaccurate for almost ten years. There were inaccuracies in measurement of stock-outs, checking of products availability, on shelves in mid-week or morning. The shelves tend to remain empty by Sunday and store did not have employees for restocking. Mr O'Brien's also admitted that there was ignorance towards customers’ negative feedback because of the use of an application net promoter score. It was in use to measure revenues and customer loyalty (AFR, 2015). Research Design The management problem in Australian supermarket giant Woolworths will be analyzed on the basis of primary and secondary data and qualitative, case-study research will be performed for it. The reason behind choosing qualitative research method is that whether there is management issue in Woolworths or not, need analysis of information, interviews, discussions so that result can be concluded.
