Nbn or National Broadband Network is an Australian wholesale open-access data network project, that was established in 2009 to design, build and operate Australia’s new high-speed wholesale local access broadband network. Nbn is the largest and most complex infrastructure project in the history of Australia, developed to modernize and replace outdated broadband systems throughout the country. Tasked with overhauling the telecommunication system was always going to be a difficult assignment. However, the network company is working militantly with the goal to ensure Australians have access to fast broadband as soon as possible, at affordable prices (www.nbnco.com.au). Since the inauguration of Nbn, the government has presented the networks mandate through a statement of expectation (SoE) which is supplemented from time to time by policy directives. The SoE clearly specifies the objectives that must be met in order to fully rollout the network. Government fluctuation has been a major talking point in the nbn roll-out. The various political parties overseeing the Australian government has put the project in several predicaments with the public. It seems the project is being delayed and becoming more expensive on taxpayers.
