In high rise buildings, we often use flat roofs while pitched roofs are common in low rise construction.  By undertaking Low Rise Construction, you must already know that roofs are classified as either pitched  (over 10o) or flat (under 10o) (Chudley and Greeno 2008; Emmitt and Gorse 2010). 

The reasons for using flat roof in high rise construction are:
