One of the bright student in my class Rose, who always chased good marks in class but suddenly turned into dull. One day I examined her with bit scared expressions. I observed that she is not participating in class the way she did before, therefore when exams came she got fail in it too.

Surprisingly, after the result came she did not come to class for a week, hence, I informed school authority, therefore, they decided to call her parents. Her mother came and told us that she was very jolly kid earlier but nowadays she talks less with everybody and seems sad, even she was not aware of the reason. She said this condition of rose stresses her family also. One day I approach her best friend and tried to ask the reason why Rose seems to reserve nowadays. Her friend told me that she has been bullied by her seniors since two- three week, she told that they taunt her about the way she looks and talks.

Then I decided to talk personally to Rose and ask about the incident more briefly, I tried to calm her and ask then she badly burst into the tears and told me nicely about everything. I just assure my best and consult with the school director, this is when director decided to send Rose to the counselor, whereas, I personally felt guilty at my part as I did not put much effort to communicate with her as she was already depressed and was badly neglected by me as well as by school faculty. This is the day when my whole perception of kids got changed. Now I’m more concern about them, I personally try to communicate with them and I noticed the more I listen to their views, encourage them or guide them, the faster the growth in them.

Moreover, I realized that we all as student-teacher are on the same platform of learning, sometimes we make mistakes and fail but with this incident in my life has changed my whole perception of teaching, now, I love all my students equally and most importantly I believe in them that they have the capacity to perform their job by giving their best, I believe in the students’ voice is imperative. Now, my philosophy of teaching is different than if a student fails in an exam that means I failed. Rose is now one of brilliant student and I am blessed to have such students who love me, admires me and most importantly believe me.
