This task requires you to:
• Examine the plan provided on page 4.
• Follow the steps below which will assist in the calculations, costing and correct formatting of your response.
• Ensure you show all working, including formulae and include correct units in answers.

1. Patio:
• Calculate the area of the patio.

• The finished depth of the concrete is 15 cm. Determine the volume of the concrete needed for the patio.

• Concrete is delivered in cubic metres and it is not good to order less than what you need. Round your answer up to the next cubic metre.

2. Pool Tiles:
We have been given the pool in a sponsorship deal. However, you still need to tile the inside of the pool.
• The pool is 150 cm deep. Sketch a net of the pool, showing measurements. (Round all measurements up to 1 decimal place.)

• Calculate the surface area to be tiled.

• Determine the cost of the chosen tiles. Remember that you need to round up to the nearest m2

. Delivery is an

extra $55.

The sponsor is considering giving a rectangular pool instead. The dimensions will be 7m x 4m x 1.5m.
• Sketch a net of the pool, showing measurements.

• Calculate the surface area to be tiled.

• You have decided to go with the pool that is cheapest to tile. Which pool will you choose? Evaluate, Verify, Justify.

3. Pool Water:
The initial fill of the pool needs to be trucked in. The cost of water delivery is estimated at $14.50 for 1,000 litres.
• Calculate the total volume of the circular pool in m3
.

• Convert the volume into the number of litres required to fill the pool to the rim. Round your answer down to the nearest 1,000 litres.

• Calculate the cost of filling the pool.

• Evaluate, Verify, Justify (How do you know your answer is correct? Are there any changes you need to make?)

4. Grass:
• Construct a diagram breaking the composite shape into basic shapes and include all measurements
• Calculate the area of each basic shape and determine the total area of grass.

• Calculate how much grass will need to be delivered. Note that the grass is sold in lots of 0.75 m2.
