SBI209: Design a Study Dead Patch in the Middle of the Lawn Biological Model Assignment Help
Assignment Task:

Task:

Students must design a study to test a biological model, using the framework described in the Study Guide in Topic 1, Sub-topic 2. Students do not actually have to do the study, so they can (within reason) ignore financial and practical considerations.

Format Students should present their report in the format given in the Unit Information (this is also appended at the end of this document). Also consult the CD-ROM for more information (Introduction: Assessment).

Format Students should present their report in the format given in the Unit Information (this is also appended at the end of this document). Also consult the CD-ROM for more information (Introduction: Assessment). Assignment 1 is about the first half of the model testing procedure. Below are three commonly asked questions (and my answers). About the assessment criteria The way in which the assignment will be marked is explained on the CD. It is important to note – and there is more on this below – that the percentage of marks assigned to each item (Introduction, Model, Hypothesis, Null Hypothesis, Experimental Test, Data Collected) reflects its importance for this assignment and not its length.

For instance, the hypothesis is worth 25% of the marks but it, and the Null Hypothesis, are usually the shortest parts of the assignment. Common questions (and answers) "How do I know how many replicates for my study?" You don't: the description of the assignment says specifically that you do not need to specify this (although you can). While you don't have to specify the number, you do have to describe how they would be selected and collected.

"How do I know, say, what sampling method to use? I might pick something that wouldn't work for my particular situation?" All you need to do is describe something reasonable and apparently practical. If you are concerned, check with me (keith.mcguinness@cdu.edu.au). "Does it really have to be 2,500 words long?" It has to be long enough and not longer. I do not penalize shorter or longer assignments. You just need to be sure that you have adequately addressed the various points listed. Read the example for more information on this issue. A partial example This example is adapted from the one on the CD but I have expanded it to give a bit more information. In italics, I have a brief description of what is required in that particular section of your report.

The text following is a (sort of) example. Where I have written “MORE”, I would expect you to explain more! In the example I give approximate appropriate lengths for the different sections in terms of sentences and paragraphs.
