Bureau of Meteorology Unit Information Management System Assessment Answer

Assignment Task: SCIE4401

Bureau of Meteorology

DATA SETS You have to download the data for this assignment from the Bureau of Meteorology. QUESTION: There is no data set.  You are required to obtain the data directly from the Bureau of Meteorology.  A marron farmer is trying to select a new site to establish a second marron farm.  The cost of land in the four locations he is considering is approximately the same, however, an important factor for the location of the farm is the rainfall in May at each site and higher rainfall is better.  The nearest weather station to each potential new site is detailed below: (i) Albany, Station Number 009500; (ii) Pemberton, Station Number 009592; (iii) Bunbury, Station Number 009965; and Manjimup Station Number 009573.  To get to the relevant website you can follow the link: http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/.  Download monthly rainfall data for the period 1997 - 2018 (inclusive) for each site and put the data in a suitable format for analysis.  A brief video on how to download the data is included in LMS. Your research report should provide a recommendation of which site is best and the degree to which your statistical analysis gives you confidence in that recommendation.
