Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a set of powerful sensor nodes with minimal measurement capacity and with which information on different ecosystem in the zone can be tracked, sensed or gathered in real time. However, the use of IPv6 protocol over Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPAN) allows highly restricted applications to establish a connection to IPv6 networks. This is a significant step towards the Internet of things, which links most of the physical objects to the Web.
Literature review
IoT is built for the connectivity of embedded devices to the Internet to allow IPv4 and IPv6 stacks to be configured with minimal computer memory and functionality. The deployment of IPv4 over WSNs is related to many previous work. In previously published research works, variations based upon activities of implementing IPv4 characteristics such as fragmentation, network architecture, accessibility and encoding of headers are notable. In comparison, previous works have often achieved minimal prominence by optimizing processes, compromise over generality and compliance to RFC.
Methodology/proposed approach
The paper is mainly focused on the development of a secure and anonymous roaming scheme for the IoT based devices across IP-based networks which would make use mobile IPv6 protocol. Moreover, the proposed scheme would ensure the anonymity and privacy of IoT clients during roaming. The paper would further lay out an extensive discussion upon the improvement of MIPv6 performance as measured in terms of handover latency and thus would also introduce the most suitable cryptographic algorithms suitable for this purpose.
