This news report aims to assess your skills in:
 Selecting and critically analysing current events that involve legal institutions and processes in particular contexts
Useful information
To find a relevant news item (published in 2019 or 2020), research the newspapers or online sources below:

 National, state and regional newspapers (hard copies and online news service): eg the Australian (particularly Friday’s Legal Affairs), the Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, the Financial Review, the Courier Mail, the Townsville Bulletin and/or the Cairns Post.

 Reputable online sources: e.g. law blogs, media releases from government departments, law societies, law reform agencies, etc.

 Radio or television programs or their online transcripts (for instance the Law Report, at http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/lawreport).

Your report should be structured into these five (5) sub headings below:
1. Citation– cite the news item according to the rules outlined in the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (3rd edition) (refer especially to sections 6.5 – 6.16). You can cite the article at the top of the page or you can cite the article in a footnote—it’s up to you.
2. Summary– use your own words, do not simply repeat the article or parts of it.
3. Analysis– How you analyse your article is up to you and there is no one way to analyse an issue(s). Your analysis may explain whether the article confirms, contradicts or expands on the subject material. It may also explain why this issue is important in terms of the concepts studied (for students, the profession, individuals, etc.); how the issue will affect current
