Assessment Summary
Task Description:
Students are required to conduct an analysis applying two (2) – five (5) frameworks from Topics 1-4 of this unit to their own organisation. Students not working or unable to use their organisation need facilitator approval to use an alternative organisation.
The analysis should include:
How well sustainability (or ESG) has been embedded within your organisation’s strategy and governance frameworks.
Key risks, opportunities, and threats that your organisation faces with respect to implementing sustainable principles and practices.
Format Requirements:
Write in the format of a Board Report, including an Executive Summary.
The report must include a Conclusion summarising key findings or insights and at least two strategic recommendations.
Submission Requirements:
Written as a Board Report.
Include a minimum of four suitable academic journal articles.
Word count: 3,000 (+/-10%) – Executive Summary, Table of Contents, tables, and references not included.
Appendices and tables can be used sparingly to clarify and support arguments.
Submit one document to the Assessment section of myABS with the filename including your name, cohort, and Assessment Task number.
Assessment Criteria:
Critically analyse and evaluate how sustainability/ESG frameworks are implemented in strategy and governance.
Research and apply strategy, governance, and sustainability (ESG) theoretical frameworks to your organisation.
Develop strategic recommendations to adopt and implement more sustainable principles and practices.
Professional board report presentation – layout, structure, writing style, and referencing.
Task Description:
Prepare 8–10 slides (optional) and a maximum 7-minute video recording.
Present as if to the board or owner of your organisation. Students not currently working should seek facilitator approval for an alternative case.
Presentation must be delivered by the student without AI-generated content.
Slides should summarise bullet points; video must show the student’s voice and image.
Part A:
i) Identify three strategic issues that may significantly impact your organisation over the next 5–10 years.
ii) Analyse strategy, governance, sustainability, and leadership versus requirements, including ESG objectives, key risks, opportunities, and threats.
iii) Make conclusions and recommendations for strategy, governance, sustainability, and leadership.
Part B:
iv) Provide personal reflections on leadership of strategy and change with a high-level personal development plan (PDP):

The SGS700 unit requires students to complete three interlinked assessment tasks designed to evaluate understanding and application of strategy, governance, sustainability (ESG), and leadership principles within an organisational context. The assessments are as follows:
Assessment Task 1 – Written Board Report (40%)
Task: Conduct an organisational analysis using 2–5 frameworks from Topics 1–4.

Assessment Task 2 – Strategic Issues and CEO Leadership Board Presentation (40%)
Task: Deliver a professional 7-minute video presentation with optional 8–10 slides.
Focus Areas:
Part A: Identify 3 strategic issues impacting the organisation, analyse strategy, governance, sustainability, leadership, and provide recommendations.
Part B: Personal reflection on leadership and a high-level Personal Development Plan (PDP) with at least two improvement plans.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 journal articles for Part A; minimum 2 for Part B.
Record video publicly on YouTube and submit link with transcript and reference list.
Maximum 20 slides, professional style, APA7 referencing.
Assessment Criteria: Clarity of analysis, application of frameworks, insightfulness of PDP, and professional presentation quality.
Assessment Task 3 – Engagement Online with Discussion Forum Posts (20%)
Task: Contribute 4 posts to discussion forums across different topics; one must cover Topic 6 or 7.
Focus Areas: Apply course materials to answer questions, provide reflection, or analyse case studies.
Requirements:
Maximum 300 words per post (total 1,200 words).
Apply relevant theoretical frameworks; in-text referencing included, no reference list required.
Assessment Criteria: Correct application of ESG and leadership frameworks, clarity of expression, structured responses, and supported insights.
