The Task:
You are going to create a short film that incorporates and showcases the innovations of D.W. Griffith.  This film may be entirely new in terms of subject or may build upon the realistic film you created in the previous learning guide. Like the works of D.W. Griffith, editing for this film will be much more significant than that of your previous film. You will have many creative decisions to make regarding your use of narrative, cinematic language, mise en scene and music to enhance audience engagement.

Formulate some questions to help organize your thoughts and direct your research.  Here are some questions you may consider:
 

• How did the developments and innovations of one filmmaker affect those after him?
• What did key film innovators contribute to the development of Classical Hollywood Style?
• What were the most commonly used film styles and genres during this era?  What are their characteristics?

The Final Product:
Your Classical Hollywood Style film must be created digitally and submitted in a finished video format such as a .wmv, .mp4, .mov.  Based on your technological abilities and knowledge, you should choose the method of filming and editing that is most appropriate for you.  Most students will choose to use their own phones, tablets and/or computers.  Your Classical Hollywood Style film assignment must contain:
